An Entry to Remember : Styling Your Foyer
I have decided to begin introducing you all to one of my most prized possessions, besides my family and friends of course, my home. Being a designer, it is extremely important to me that I create a stylish, yet functional ambiance within my home. There is nothing I love more than hanging out with my family at home, and I like to have a warm and inviting environment while doing so.
I am going to start with my foyer, the section of my home that leaves a "first impression." Though I have a front entry way, everyone who comes to my home enters through the garage, and for that reason I knew I had to make the foyer welcoming, as well as representative of my style, and the rest of my home.
The entry area should be inviting and set the tone for the rest of the house. I knew I wanted bold color in the space, and chose the gorgeous set of three vertical prints that you see hanging on the wall. These prints helped me to develop a color pallet, and inspiration began to flourish. I then added the bright green accent chair that is just too pretty for words. The chair not only adds style to the space, it is functional as well. It allows my family and guests a place to sit while putting on and taking off their shoes. You should always provide convenience to those who will be using the space. I then began adding the accessories including a white table, a stylish lamp, bright pink, green and white accents, a funky mat, and a black framed mirror.
A surface in a foyer is essential as it is allows a place to set not only accessories, but also keys, a purse, and the mail. I opted to go with an accent table in my foyer, allowing for a decorative basket to be put underneath for storage, as well as a pop of color. You could also use a bench, a shelf, or even a small dresser to add a surface space to your entry way.
Your foyer is where you enter and leave your home, and for that reason having a mirror added to your entry's decor is a great way to be able to quickly check your appearance before leaving your home. It is also an excellent way to reflect light, and expand the appearance of the area.
Having a decorative lamp not only looks attractive, it adds a soft glow to your foyer. Colorful accents add that electrifying pop of color, as well as the finishing touches to the space.
It is important that your foyer is not forgotten about when styling your home as it is creates a first impression within the minds of those who enter your home, and is a preview as to what is to come throughout the rest of your home. So make it functional and beautiful, and let your personality shine through!
I would like to thank Olivia McDonald for taking such beautiful photos of my home! I have many more to share!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Color. Color. Color.
I am so excited to see vibrant hues coming in strong throughout the summer season. Now, when I say color, I do not necessarily mean vibrant shades on your walls through paint or bold wallpaper – which for many can be a huge and long term commitment –what I mean, is introducing electrifying color to a more neutral backdrop. Doing so will give your space a fresh, vibrant look without making such a large investment.
There are so many ways to add amazing color to a room; you just have to be creative! The following photos show a wide array of ways to add that perfect color (or colors) to your space.
At Posh, we currently have many items in vivid, cheery, and colorful shades. As clients walk into the store they are immediately drawn to them, which strengthens my belief that we all crave color. It brightens not only a room, but our spirits as well.
I would advise you to take a more easy going approach to decorating when using vibrant hues. It is important to purchase pieces you love, as they will almost always end up working in the end. You should not be afraid to mix more than one color together, if you love it, GO FOR IT. Sometimes when dealing with brilliant colors, you may have to rebel against the traditional “rules” of decorating.
Mixing the pink flowers in the blue and white vase may not be expected, but it creates a beautiful and original center piece.
Pieces from this collection are also absolutely gorgeous on their own. The unique pattern and mixture of blue and white would be the perfect pop of exciting color to add to any room.
The above photo features two excellent ways to add that exciting pop of your favorite hues to a space. Both colorful accent cushions and silk flowers are perfect accessories that will satisfy your need for color.
Gorgeous wall art is the perfect way to add designer drama to a room. This large poppy print, featuring pinks, reds, yellows, and creams would be an excellent addition to a room that needs that extra spice you desire.
This is one of my FAVORITE pieces that we are featuring in Posh's showroom right now. The gorgeous green accent chair looks absolutely divine with this beautiful colorful accent cushion.
Who would have thought that a collaboration of green, pink, orange, blue, and yellow would create such an electrifying and gorgeous display? Rebelling against the "rules" of decorating, we went for it, and absolutely LOVE it, as it satisfies our craving for color.
As you can see, color has the ability to bring a room alive. There are so many ways to create a beautiful collaboration of color, you just have to go for it!
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Lisa

A touch of Inspiration
We find our clients not only come to our boutique to make a purchase, they come to get inspired! We have so much fun putting together creative displays and love to hear that our clients received many ideas for their own homes while shopping at our store.
We love the trend of adding a pop of color to more subtle tones, such as greys, blacks, and whites, as seen here with the pink flowers! This unique table is the PERFECT backdrop for such a trend.
It is summertime on Prince Edward Island, and that means LOTS of inspiration for decorating! This mantle display features "beachy" themed items, which really emphasizes the summer feel.
Fashion does not have to end with your wardrobe! Being fashion forward with your decorating style adds a sophisticated and stylish touch to any space. This gorgeous zebra bench, featuring metallic gold, brown, and black hues is oh so trendy and fashionable. Inspirational quotes, as seen on this pillow, are a simple way to add elegance to a space.
We will be featuring photos of our showroom often, check back to get inspired!

Posh Home Decor : Our Story
Welcome everyone! We would like to start off by introducing ourselves. Our names are Lisa and Brianna, and we are a mother-daughter duo who have recently entered the stylish and exciting industry of home decor.
Inspired by various magazines and television shows, we wanted to bring the latest trends in home fashions to home owners on Prince Edward Island. With Lisa being an Interior Stylist, and Brianna a business student at the University of Prince Edward Island, we felt that an entrepreneurial opportunity was in our reach. After months of research and planning, our dream became a reality, and Lisa, along with her husband, Randy DesRoches, opened Posh Home Decor in December of 2010. Our boutique is located in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and both Brianna and Lisa run the store on a daily basis.
We wanted to begin sharing inspiration with our clientele, and feel that we will be able to do so through our blog. We will be sharing photos of our showroom, products available at our store, and Lisa's Interior Styling projects, as well as design tips, and other information that we feel will be of benefit to our readers.
Have a wonderful day everyone!
