An Entry to Remember : Styling Your Foyer
I have decided to begin introducing you all to one of my most prized possessions, besides my family and friends of course, my home. Being a designer, it is extremely important to me that I create a stylish, yet functional ambiance within my home. There is nothing I love more than hanging out with my family at home, and I like to have a warm and inviting environment while doing so.
I am going to start with my foyer, the section of my home that leaves a "first impression." Though I have a front entry way, everyone who comes to my home enters through the garage, and for that reason I knew I had to make the foyer welcoming, as well as representative of my style, and the rest of my home.
The entry area should be inviting and set the tone for the rest of the house. I knew I wanted bold color in the space, and chose the gorgeous set of three vertical prints that you see hanging on the wall. These prints helped me to develop a color pallet, and inspiration began to flourish. I then added the bright green accent chair that is just too pretty for words. The chair not only adds style to the space, it is functional as well. It allows my family and guests a place to sit while putting on and taking off their shoes. You should always provide convenience to those who will be using the space. I then began adding the accessories including a white table, a stylish lamp, bright pink, green and white accents, a funky mat, and a black framed mirror.
A surface in a foyer is essential as it is allows a place to set not only accessories, but also keys, a purse, and the mail. I opted to go with an accent table in my foyer, allowing for a decorative basket to be put underneath for storage, as well as a pop of color. You could also use a bench, a shelf, or even a small dresser to add a surface space to your entry way.
Your foyer is where you enter and leave your home, and for that reason having a mirror added to your entry's decor is a great way to be able to quickly check your appearance before leaving your home. It is also an excellent way to reflect light, and expand the appearance of the area.
Having a decorative lamp not only looks attractive, it adds a soft glow to your foyer. Colorful accents add that electrifying pop of color, as well as the finishing touches to the space.
It is important that your foyer is not forgotten about when styling your home as it is creates a first impression within the minds of those who enter your home, and is a preview as to what is to come throughout the rest of your home. So make it functional and beautiful, and let your personality shine through!
I would like to thank Olivia McDonald for taking such beautiful photos of my home! I have many more to share!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
